Findability strategies

I have used a variety of strategies to enhance the findability of my page. Firstly, I have organised my website content by providing metadata and using structure tags within the html mark-up. I have also validated the HTML, CSS and Accessibility features of my website and provided a sitemap for main search engines.

Secondly, I have created a findability blog through WordPress to bring traffic to my website. I used RYTE to research low-competition keywords and made extensive use of tags and categories to improve my ranking on SERP. I have also included a custom search engine on my webpage to improve searchability on the webpages within my domain.

Finally, I have used my social network from Disqus, Google+ and RSS to promote my website to familiar and new visitors after each update or new publication.

Evaluation methods

In first instance, I have registered for a private domain and a Creative commons licence to ensure full ownership and control of the contents of my website. I have signed up for a Webmaster tools and traffic analysis accounts on Google to monitor the Click-Through-Rate and indexing of my website. I have been able to review the effectiveness of my social networking promotions as well as the progress in the crawling rate of my website.

Google Search console monitoring Google analytics dashboard

To ensure that my website does not experience down time, I have signed up for an Entireweb and InternetSeer account that allowed me to submit my website to search engines and get alerts whenever my domain is unavailable or under maintenance. This is a useful tool for evaluating the performance and reliability of my hosting provider.

In the near future, I am planning to use my RYTE SEO account along with the new beta version of Google Search console to monitor the findability of my page on a bi-monthly basis. I find that these tools are the most effective in providing data about SERP ranking, SEO rate, traffic sources and demographics. I will be able to use this information to review the keyword density of my webpages and improve the number of inbound links to my website.
